What is a modular or prefabricated data center?

A modular data center is a factory-built infrastructure module that integrates IT space, power, cooling, and monitoring into a standardized enclosure. The module is shipped to site for connection and commissioning, and additional modules can be added as capacity grows.

Modular data center vs traditional build — which is better?

For AI and other high-density compute workloads, modular data centers can significantly reduce deployment time and improve project predictability. Traditional data center construction can take 2–5 years from site development to operational capacity, while prefabricated systems can be powered in weeks once the site is ready.

Do I need to supply my own servers and GPUs?

Yes. We design and engineer the powered-and-cooled infrastructure — enclosure, liquid cooling, power, controls, and monitoring. IT space is reserved for your selected rack systems. You provide the compute hardware, while Gerchamp provides the powered and cooled infrastructure required to deploy it.

What liquid cooling technology do you use in your modular data centers?

We use self-developed closed-loop direct-to-chip (DTC) liquid cooling solution with Gerchamp’s Bluearth liquid cooling technology for high-density AI and accelerator racks, including OCP racks and NVIDIA GB200, GB300 and Rubin systems at 120kW+ per rack.

What type of batteries and backup power do your modular data centers use?

Each block pairs with with Gerchamp’s proprietary UPS, nickel-zinc battery-based BBU and battery monitoring system (BMS). The modular data center can be integrated with customer-supplied diesel generators, gas turbines, or renewable energy sources.

Is your modular data center system self-developed?

Yes. Gerchamp develops its core liquid cooling, power and backup, and DCIM technologies in-house. These technologies are protected by Gerchamp’s intellectual property and patents.

What industries and use cases can a modular data center be used for?

The 3.5MW Kit is configured to your site and workload, modular power and cooling tailored to your load profile, rack-level density tailored per aisle, and site-specific utility interface, redundancy, and code compliance. Both are powered-and-cooled shells with reserved positions for your chosen GPU/accelerator racks, so you bring the compute.
